Versatile...many features
This unit has more features than I know how to use now; no doubt I'll learn. I'm sure I'll put this GPS to good use, as I expect to travel extensively this year. Adjustable angle windshield mount makes for easy viewing of large display. I'm happy with my purchase. I assume I'l be more so, the more I use it.

The GPS unit will only work when plugged in the car charger. Not plugged in with the PC USB cord. Even when it's plugged in with the car charger. The battery never fully charges up. The level indicator stays on 2 bars. The map is out of date. I tried it from home to work. It told me to go to a road that's been divided by a 6 lane highway for years! I tried to update the map by downloading a program on Magellan's Web site. It didn't work. I also couldn't register the GPS unit with the serial number that came with it. Another Windows product bites the dust
Update 10/08/09 - they have a firmware upgrade to the unit that helps some of these things and adds a couple of features - still hangs up about once a week - aggravating. I raise it from a one to a two - still not very good, but an improvement. Compared to the old Sreet Pilot I had, this thing is not worth the powder to blow it to (your least favorite place here) First a few Positive things: 1. Great display - resolution is good, even the 3D buildings are good. 2. Locks on to the GPS satellites quickly - good sensitivity. 3. Frequently used destinations drop-down screen is a good idea and worked well. Negative things: #1 It locks up, even when you aren't doing anything with it - when it does, you'll need to find a small tool in your car to reset it - nothing ... Everyone has a paper clip in their car, right? Wrong. I was on a country road, so stopped and broke a twig off a dead plant to reset it. Should have known - it runs on Windows CE. #2. Not very accurate with location - quite often has you on the street over from the one you are on (or going the wrong direction). Overshoots intersectons by over 50 feet. Then has trouble figuring our which way you turned. #3. Touch screen buttons slow to respond - and often do something you didn't expect. #4. If you want to go to an address, you HAVE to enter the city first. In suburban areas, the city isn't all that obvious. You should be able to leave the city blank and just enter the address. #5. If you are close to Dallas, and just enter a D for the city, you get cities like 'Denver' and 'Des Moines' and 'cour D'Layne'- Dallas is way down the list. Hello, DA comes before DE and certainly before 'c'. It doesn't seem to know where you are. #6. Bluetooth - strange connect system - it fought with my phone for about 10 minutes before I finally got them linked. Shouldn't have bothered. When it worked, the sound quality was poor. If I made the mistake of making my call from the phone, I had to turn the GPS off and turn off the phone bluetooth to get either one to work. This could be partly the phones problem, but it has worked very well with every other bluetooth device I have tried it on - including computers (it's an AT&T Tilt). #7. Only works in a mode that insists you are on a street, unless you are WAY off the street. This is just stupid, you should have a choice. #8. Night screen is weird. It is white streets on a black background, which keeps the overall light level down, but makes the screen VERY contrasty - hard to look at. Using the day display at night is just too bright - even with brightness turned all the way down. I didn't try the MP3 or video with the SD card - it wasn't the reason I bought the GPS. Overall, I would recommend looking at some other unit. Lot of great features, if they worked.

Magellan Maestro 4370 Car GPS Receiver
I needed a GPS for an upcoming trip and looked into the Magellan Maestro because I already have another Magellan handheld GPS. HITS - I was very impressed with the touch screen and ease of use. I would advise getting a screen protector right off the bat. It has one from the factory, but it's not meant for long term use. The choice of 3d or 2d maps was a great feature also. Depending on how you like to view the screen, the tilt and panning is also very cool. The maps were spot on for navigation and the rerouting feature was extremely helpful. MISSES - These are only my opinion... but the mp3 player sounds like crap. What do you expect with a small speaker? Even if you run the sound through the FM radio, it's not that great quality. It did freeze up 3 times in 1140 miles... not bad, but ... I needed a GPS for an upcoming trip and looked into the Magellan Maestro because I already have another Magellan handheld GPS. Magellan 4370 Reliable?Update!
I returned the previous unit because it crashed over 15 times in 2 days. I have since bought a new (used) unit and it is 95% more reliable. Many of my previous comments apply about the bluetooth (not usable) but as a solid GPS that gets the job done this unit deserves a good rating. One thing I noticed on both used units was battery longevity. It was a short 1.5 hours. My 4 year old 2500T lasted over 8 hours. Not sure why Magellan would shorten usable battery life. These are now a fantastic deal for the money on e-bay. This was a used Magellan Maestro with some definite crashing software problems. I suspect this unit tries to do so many things in addition to GPS duties it ends up doing none of them really well. Bluetooth, GPS, Mp3 player, FM transmitter, Address book. This may have ...
